GROUPS SCORE NEVADA

-

earn him a 60 percent score, among the highest for Republicans.

The 41 vetoes Sandoval issued this year were the second-highest by a Nevada governor in a single session.

“Many of the bills that Gov. Sandoval vetoed would have greatly benefited the Latinx community,” the coalition said.

Some of those vetoes docked his score, such as Assembly Bill 374. Assemblyman Nelson Araujo, D-las Vegas, sponsored the measure to allow families to purchase Medicaid if they do not qualify for the program.

“Both the problems AB374 attempts to fix and the solutions it proposes need further study and analysis,” Sandoval wrote in his veto message.

The only Democrat whose score was docked, Skip Daly, D-sparks, scored a 93 percent because of his vote against community solar measure Senate Bill 392. The bill was sponsored by Sen. Mo Denis, D-las Vegas.

Sandoval also vetoed that bill, saying the change could cause more disruption in an already turbulent energy industry.

“This disruption brings with it unnecessary risks, and likely unintended consequences, that could harm both Nevada’s ratepayers and its broader clean energy economy,” Sandoval wrote in his veto message. “At this time, the possible benefits of SB392 do not outweigh the risks.”

No Republican earned more than 67 percent. Assemblywoman Jill Tolles, R-reno, was among the four highest GOP grades. yvonne.gonzalez@lasvegassun.com / 702-990-2464 / @ymgonzal
