Let’s not forget Russia

The outrageous incident in Charlottesville is indicative of a new era of violence in our country sparked by a president who seems not to understand the ramifications of his wild tweeting. Granted, Donald Trump must be quite careful in antagonizing a section of his base, but who would be proud to count as supporters those of the radical alt-right, or the bigotry and racism of white supremacy?

The CEOS who chose to quit the president’s manufacturing council should be commended, but the real question is why haven’t the rest of the now-defunct council’s members stood up in protest against the president’s unwillingness to initially condemn those unconscionable actions? What has happened to America as we watch radical organizations wave their Confederate flags, or at times demonstrate their racism by painting swastikas, or killing an innocent women, injuring others, and committing other aggressive actions? How could our president appear to condone such actions by his initial silence?

Trump has continued to divert our attention from the unresolved issue, which is his possible collaboration with the Russians that led to his questionable election. The media must report such a blatantly horrific action that occurred in Virginia, but they all must quickly get back to tracing the steps toward a determination of whether our election has been compromised by a foreign entity, and if any Americans conspired in such action.

I surely hope that many more of our country’s oligarchs and legislators stand up and be counted not only about the gruesome incident in Virginia, but also to demand rapid action to resolve the allegation of collusion by our current administration, its surrogates and possibly by the president himself.
