■ Red Sox 6, Athletics 2 — At Boston, Andrew Benintendi had three hits and three RBIS to back Drew Pomeranz (16-5), who held Oakland to one run in six innings to tie teammate Chris Sale for the AL lead in victories, as Boston won for the sixth time in eight games.
■ Twins 3, Blue Jays 2 — At Minneapolis, Byron Buxton’s two-out, 10th-inning home run to the upper deck in left gave Minnesota its second straight win via an extra-inning homer. Jorge Polanco hit a two-run single in the fifth for the Twins. Justin Smoak hit a tying homer in the ninth for Toronto.
■ Astros 5, Angels 2 — At Anaheim, Calif., Alex Bregman hit an RBI double and scored in Houston’s two-run second, Marwin Gonzalez hit a two-run double, and Brad Peacock (11-2) held Los Angeles to one run over six innings as the Angels fell three games behind Minnesota for the second AL wild card.
