Fallen officer’s funeral scheduled for Friday

The off-duty Las Vegas police officer who was killed in the Oct. 1 massacre will be buried Friday, police said Monday.

Metropolit­an Police Department Officer Charleston Hartfield was killed in the barrage of gunfire as he attended the Route 91 Harvest music festival.

The funeral service will include two motorcades.

The first motorcade will begin at

9:15 a.m. at Palm Mortuary on North Main Street. The fallen officer and his family will be escorted from there to the Central Church at 1001 New Beginnings Drive in Henderson.

The funeral service will begin at

11 a.m. and end about 1 p.m. Another motorcade will take Hartfield and his family to the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, where he will be buried.

A graveside service is expected to last about an hour and will include traditiona­l services such as the presentati­on of a flag to his family, a flyover from Metro’s air support section and the playing of Taps.

Additional­ly, an official bank account has been created for Harfield’s family.
