Jagr, No. 2 career NHL scorer, let go by Flames

The Calgary Flames placed right wing Jaromir Jagr, 45, on waivers for the purpose of terminating his NHL contract.

The Flames were the Czech native’s ninth NHL team. He is the active leader with 1,733 games, 766 goals, 1,555 assists and 1,921 points and is second to Wayne Gretzky on the all-time scoring list.

Jagr, 34 games shy of Gordie Howe’s NHL record, signed a oneyear, $1 million deal with Calgary for this season. He had one goal and six assists in 22 games.
