Two baseball players land on preseason all-conference team

-

UNLV’S Kyle Isbel and Bryson Stott were named to the Mountain West’s 13-member Preseason All-conference Team, which was voted on by the league’s seven head coaches and announced Tuesday. This is the second straight year that Isbel has been tabbed to the conference’s preseason squad, while this is the first for Stott.

Both Isbel and Stott have claimed a share of the Mountain West’s Freshman of the Year award the past two seasons, as the former was recognized in 2016, while the latter was honored in 2017.

Isbel, a junior from Fontana, California, started 53 games last year (all in center field), and led the team in at-bats (231) and runs (42), and tied for the team lead in multiple-hit games (22). Stott, a local product out of Desert Oasis High School, played in 54 games (all at shortstop) and finished the year with a .294 batting average.

Softball: UNLV sophomore Charlie Masterson was named College Sports Madness’ Mountain West Pitcher of the Week. Masterson, a local product out of Boulder City, made two starts on opening weekend and allowed two runs in 14 innings.

Women’s golf: UNLV finished its first tournament of the spring on a high note, carding its best single-round team score of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Wednesday’s final round.

The Rebels shot a 15-over 299 to finish in 15th overall with a total score of 62-over 914.
