- Review-journal wire services

Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts was put on the 10day disabled list because of a cracked bone in his left ankle. An MRI examination confirmed the injury Monday, a day after he was hurt. The injury is a non-displaced fracture and won’t require surgery. He is expected to miss 10 to 14 days.

Bogaerts left Sunday’s win over Tampa Bay in the seventh inning after injuring his ankle while sliding into the Rays’ dugout. He was covering third base and chasing his own mishandling of a throw.

Infielder Tzu-wei Lin was recalled from Triple-a Pawtucket in a corresponding move.

First baseman Ryon Healy was placed on the 10-day DL with an ankle injury, and right-handed reliever Chasen Bradford was promoted from Triple-a Tacoma.

Bradford, 28, a Silverado High School product, had been claimed off waivers from the Mets, with whom he was 2-0 with a 3.74 ERA last season.

Making his Seattle debut Tuesday, Bradford pitched three no-hit, shutout innings,

issuing one walk and striking out two, in the Mariners’ 10-0 loss at Kansas City.

Right-hander J.C. Ramirez will miss the rest of this season because of a torn ulnar collateral ligament, and Tommy John surgery was recommended. Ramirez was put on the 10-day DL Sunday, a day after he felt forearm tightness. After going 11-10 in 27 games last season, Ramirez, 29, didn’t pitch again after Aug. 19, when he was diagnosed with a partially torn UCL.

Right-hander Hunter Harvey was promoted from Double-a Bowie to bolster Baltimore’s bullpen, and left-hander Tanner Scott was optioned to Triple-a Norfolk

Harvey, 23, the son of former big league pitcher Bryan Harvey, never has pitched above Class A. He missed the 2015 season with an arm injury and had Tommy John surgery in 2016. Since being drafted 22nd in 2013, Harvey is 7-8 with a 2.56 ERA in 38 games, all starts.

Chicago is expected to place first baseman Anthony Rizzo on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday, retroactive to Friday, to get treatment for his back. Rizzo, 28, never has been on the DL before.
