Sources: Jeter, two-year aide at UNLV, heads to Minnesota

UNLV assistant basketball coach Rob Jeter is leaving to serve on Minnesota’s bench, sources close to the Rebels’ program said Monday.

Coach Marvin Menzies said he couldn’t comment.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because no official announceme­nt has been made, said Preston Laird could get a close look to replace Jeter.

Laird, the director of basketball operations the past two seasons, was named a 30-for-30 honoree last year by the National Associatio­n of Basketball Coaches as one of the nation’s top young coaches.

Jeter was with UNLV for two seasons after 11 years as the head coach at Wisconsinm­ilwaukee, where he went 185-170 with two NCAA Tournament appearance­s.

Miami: Sophomore guard Bruce Brown

Jr., who averaged 11.4 points in 19 games before his 2017-18 season was cut short by a foot injury, will hire an agent and enter the NBA draft.

Florida State: Point guard David Nichols, who played three seasons at Albany and averaged 14.6 points per game in 2017-18, will join the Seminoles next season as a graduate transfer.

Gonzaga: Forward Rui Hachimura, who averaged 11.6 points in 20.7 minutes per game as a sophomore reserve in 2017-18, will return to the Bulldogs for his junior season.

West Virginia: Reserve forward Maciej Bender, a native of Warsaw, Poland, who played in 35 games with the Mountainee­rs as a sophomore in 2017-18, plans to transfer.
