Athletics 16, Royals 0 — At Kansas City, Mo., Matt Olson hit two home runs and drove in five runs, Dustin Fowler homered twice and had four RBIS, and Frankie Montas (2-0) blanked Kansas City on six hits over eight innings.

Minneapoli­s, Eduardo Escobar hit two home runs and drove in four runs for Minnesota, which scored six runs off

Tigers 5, Blue Jays 2 — At Detroit, Nicholas Castellano­s had a home run among his three hits to back Blaine Hardy, who improved to 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA in three starts since joining Detroit’s rotation. Kyle Schwarber entered as a defensive replacemen­t in the sixth and hit a threerun homer and a sacrifice fly for Chicago, which dropped New York under .500 for the first time this season.

Diamondbac­ks 9, Marlins 1 — At Phoenix, Ketel Marte homered from both sides of the plate, accounting for two of Arizona’s franchise record-tying six home runs in support of Clay Buchholz (1-1), who struck out nine over seven innings.

Giants 4, Phillies 0 — At San Francisco, Joe Panik singled twice and reached base four times in his return from the disabled list to back Chris Stratton (73), who blanked Philadelph­ia on four hits over six innings.

Peraza had three hits and three RBIS for Cincinnati, which scored four runs in 3

Louis, Jameson Taillon (3-4) allowed three hits over eight shutout innings in his first win since April 8, and Adam Frazier tripled, doubled and scored twice.
