Athletics 9, Rangers 0 — At Oakland, Calif., Khris Davis hit a home run estimated at 438 feet after letting 10-year-old Anthony Slocumb of the Make-a-wish Foundation sign his jersey, and Ramon Laureano hit his first two career homers, including a three-run shot that chased Bartolo Colon (7-11) in the sixth. Mike Fiers (9-6) blanked Texas on one hit and one walk and struck out eight over seven innings.

Mariners 7, Astros 4— At Seattle, Robinson Cano hit his first home run since returning from an 80-game suspension, a three-run shot in the eighth that pulled Seattle within 3 1/2 games of Houston and dropped the Astros into a tie with Oakland atop the AL West. Cano earlier doubled twice, his first two extra-base hits since coming back from his penalty for violating MLB’S joint drug policy.

White Sox 8, Twins 5— At Minneapoli­s, Matt Davidson homered and totaled three RBIS to help Chicago spoil the major league debut of Stephen Gonsalves (0-1), who was tagged for four runs in 1 1/3 innings. Jake Cave and Max Kepler homered for the second straight day for Minnesota, which had won five of six.
