Astros 7, Mariners 0 — At Houston, Marwin Gonzalez hit a two-run homer in a four-run third inning that helped Houston eliminate Seattle from contention for the AL West title.

Indians 5, White Sox 3 — At Cleveland, Corey Kluber (19-7) struck out 11 in eight innings to record his career-high 19th win as Cleveland beat Chicago. Kluber topped 200 strikeouts for the fifth straight season.

Angels 9, Athletics 7 — At Oakland, Calif., Kaleb Cowart hit a grand slam as part of a six-run sixth inning for Los Angeles and the Angels handed Oakland its third straight loss.

Blue Jays 6, Orioles 4 — At Baltimore, the Orioles dropped their 108th game, a team record for losses since they arrived in Baltimore in 1954. The overall franchise record for defeats is 111, set by the 1939 St. Louis Browns.

Rays 4, Rangers 0 — At Arlington, Texas, Blake Snell (20-5) became the major leagues’ first 20game winner in two years, helping pitch Tampa Bay past Texas. Snell threw one-hit ball for five innings and tied the Rays’ record for victories in a season.

Detroit, Chris Gimenez homered and Tyler Austin drove in three runs as Minnesota won its third straight. Detroit has lost seven of its last nine games. Taylor hit a solo home run off Adam Ottavino (6-4) in the 10th inning and Los Angeles increased its lead in the NL West to 1 1/2 games over Colorado.

Cubs 9, Diamondbac­ks 1 — At Phoenix, Javier Baez and Daniel Murphy each hit a two-run homer as Chicago jumped out to a big early lead on its way to its fifth win in six games. The Cubs increased their NL Central lead to 3 1/2 games over Milwaukee.

Cardinals 8, Braves 1 — At Atlanta, Paul Dejong hit a two-run homer, Yadier Molina added a tworun single in a four-run eighth inning and St. Louis won its third straight game.

Reds 3, Brewers 1 — At Milwaukee, Jose Peraza capitalize­d on Chase Anderson’s home run troubles with a drive in the first inning and Cincinnati handed Milwaukee its third loss in four games.

Phillies 5, Mets 2 — At Philadelph­ia, Jorge Alfaro hit a goahead, three-run homer in the sixth inning and Philadelph­ia rallied past New York to boost its faint playoff hopes.

Nationals 4, Marlins 2 — At Miami, Stephen Strasburg (9-7) matched his season-high with 11 strikeouts and Bryce Harper tied a career-high with five walks as Washington beat Miami.

Giants 5, Padres 4 — At San Diego, Chris Shaw hit a go-ahead single in the eighth inning that drove in Nick Hundley and Brandon Crawford and San Francisco won for the fourth time in five games.
