North Las Vegas man dies in crash in western valley

Las Vegas Review-Journal - - NEVADA -

A 25-year-old North Las Vegas man died in a two-vehicle crash after his car spun out in a western valley intersection.

Metropolitan Police Department traffic investigators were notified of the crash shortly after 5:45 a.m. on Durango Drive south of Soneto Lane, near West Charleston Boulevard.

Just before the crash, a 2007 Chevrolet Express 2500 van was heading north on Durango when a 2006 Dodge Charger traveling in the opposite direction rotated and entered the northbound lanes, striking the Chevrolet, police said.

The Dodge driver was pronounced dead at University Medical Center, police said, while the Chevrolet driver and two passengers suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the collision.

It was not clear what caused the Dodge to spin, but the crash occurred on slick roads caused by what the National Weather Service was calling “spotty showers” early Friday.

It was the 127th traffic death investigated this year by Metro.
