Hurricanes erupt late, cool off Ducks

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Brett Pesce scored the tiebreakin­g goal early in the third period as the Carolina Hurricanes ended their three-game skid and the Ducks’ five-game win streak with a 4-1 victory over Anaheim on Friday.

Justin Williams also scored in the third period to back Petr Mrazek, who made 18 saves in his first victory since Oct. 26, as the Hurricanes won in Anaheim for the second time in nine years.

Clark Bishop scored his first NHL goal and Sebastian Aho added an empty-netter as Carolina salvaged one win from its three-game California trip despite the injury absences of top scorer Micheal Ferland, veteran center Jordan Staal and starting goalie Curtis Mcelhinney.

Blues 1, Jets 0 — At Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jake

Allen stopped 26 shots in his 17th shutout and first this season, and Alex Steen scored on a second-period power play. Connor Hellebuyck had 25 saves for Winnipeg, which mustered six shots in the third period and had its fourgame win streak snapped.

Oilers 7, Wild 2 — At Edmonton, Alberta, Leon Draisaitl had two goals and an assist and Connor Mcdavid a goal and three assists for Edmonton, which scored on three of its first six shots. Cam Talbot made 31 saves to notch back-to-back victories after losing his previous six starts.

Stars 3, Sharks 2 — At Dallas, Miro Heiskanen and Brett Ritchie scored in the third period to back Ben Bishop, who had a season-high 41 saves, as Dallas won its fourth straight. Erik Karlsson assisted on both San Jose goals.
