Giordano, Flames dominate Coyotes

Defenseman Mark Giordano had two goals and an assist in his 800th game as the Calgary Flames routed the Arizona Coyotes 7-1 Sunday.

Giordano, the Flames’ captain, has 47 points (nine goals, 38 assists) in 45 games this season, second among NHL defensemen and five behind San Jose’s Brent Burns.

Matthew Tkachuk scored two goals, and Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau and Sam Bennett also scored for Calgary, which has won five straight and improved to 8-1-1 in its past 10. The Flames lead the Pacific Division by three points over the Sharks and four over the Golden Knights.

At Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bryan Little scored with 11 seconds left in overtime to back Connor Hellebuyck, who had 28 saves, as Anaheim lost its franchise-record 11th straight.

At Raleigh, N.C., Sebastian Aho had three goals and an assist as Carolina won for the seventh time in eight games. Filip Forsberg scored twice for Nashville.

At New York, Casey Cizikas and Cal Clutterbuc­k each had a goal and an assist to back Thomas Greiss, who had 38 saves. Tampa Bay was 18-1-1 in its previous 20.

At Vancouver, British Columbia, Loui Eriksson had a goal and two assists in support of Jacob Markstrom, who had 23 saves, as Florida lost its sixth straight.

At Columbus, Ohio, Nick Foligno scored twice for Columbus to back Sergei Bobrovsky, who returned from a team suspension to stop 22 shots.
