QB Martell reportedly down to three choices
Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell is considering Louisville, Miami and West Virginia as potential transfer destinations, 247Sports reported.
The Bishop Gorman product’s name was entered in the NCAA transfer portal after former fivestar quarterback Justin Fields said he was transferring to Ohio State.
After visiting West Virginia on Sunday, Martell will head to Miami on Monday, with the Louisville visit set for Wednesday and Thursday. He is expected to make a final decision the following week.
Miami: Eric Hickson was hired as running backs coach and Butch Barry as offensive line coach. Hickson served the same role at Kansas State in 2018, and Barry was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ assistant offensive line coach for the past four years.
Alabama: All-america safety Deionte Thompson became the sixth Crimson Tide underclassman to leave early for the NFL draft. He had 79 tackles, two interceptions and four forced fumbles in 2018.
Oklahoma: Quarterback Austin Kendall entered the transfer portal and, as a graduate, would be eligible to play immediately.
North Carolina State: Tony Gibson was hired as defensive coordinator after filling that role the past five seasons at West Virginia.
Michigan: Anthony Campanile, a co-defensive coordinator at
Boston College in 2018, was hired as a defensive assistant.
West Virginia: Matt Moore was hired as offensive line coach after serving four years as Troy offensive coordinator.
Texas Tech: Kerry Cooks, who spent the past nine seasons as an Oklahoma assistant, was hired as safeties coach.
Thunder: Forward Nick Collison’s No. 4 will be retired on March 20. The 38-year-old spent his entire 15-season career with the franchise before retiring in May.
