James, Lakers rally late to slip past Harden, Rockets

Lebron James scored 29 points as the Los Angeles Lakers rallied from a 19-point deficit midway through the third quarter to defeat the Houston Rockets 111-106 on Thursday.

Brandon Ingram added 27 points for the Lakers, who trailed most of the game and were down 95-88 with 7:49 left when they went on a 17-4 run over a six-minute span.

James, who scored eight points during the run, put Los Angeles up 99-97 with 4:15 to go. They led by as many as eight in the final minute. It is the Lakers’ sixth comeback victory this season when trailing by 15 or more at any point.

James Harden led Houston with 30 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists before fouling out with 1:24 left. It is his 32nd straight game in which he has scored 30 or more points, overtaking Wilt Chamberlai­n for the NBA’S second-longest streak. Chamberlai­n also holds the record at 65 games.

At Oakland, Calif., Stephen Curry hit 10 3-pointers and totaled 36 points for Golden State, which overcame Buddy Hield’s two consecutiv­e 3-pointers in the final 25.5 seconds. Marvin Bagley

III had 28 points and 14 rebounds for Sacramento, which had won five of its previous seven. Kevin Durant had 28 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks for the Warriors.

At Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokoun­mpo scored 12 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter and had 13 rebounds for Milwaukee in its 15th win in 17 games. Kyrie Irving scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter for Boston but missed a stumbling, awkward shot as time expired.

At Cleveland, Cedi Osman had 19 points and Kevin Love 16 points and 11 rebounds for Cleveland, which handed Phoenix its franchise-record 16th straight loss. Devin Booker scored 30 points for the Suns, who have allowed at least 110 points in each game of the slide.

At Philadelph­ia, Tobias Harris scored 12 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter for Philadelph­ia, which is without All-star center Joel Embiid (sore knee) for at least a week. Dwyane Wade hit a runner with 1:56 left that put Miami up 99-98 and totaled 19 points.

At New York, Jusuf Nurkic had 27 points and 12 rebounds for Portland, which got 18 points and nine rebounds from Enes Kanter in his Blazers debut. Kanter, signed last week, made his first seven shots and finished 8 of 9, missing only a 3-pointer.
