China, Croatia national teams to play in NBA Summer League

The Chinese and Croatian national teams will join all 30 NBA clubs at this year’s

Summer League in Las Vegas, set for July 5 to July 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion.

China sent a team to Summer League in 2007, and Croatia will play in the event for the first time. The Summer League will be part of China’s preparatio­ns for the FIBA World Cup, which China will host from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15.

Mixed martial arts: T.J. Dillashaw surrendere­d the UFC 135-pound title because of an “adverse finding” in his most recent drug test. Dillashaw, 33, failed the test after his loss to Henry Cejudo for the flyweight title in New York on Jan. 19. The New York State Athletic Commission said Dillashaw (16-4) was fined $10,000 and suspended for one year.

NFL: Attorneys for New England owner Robert Kraft filed a motion to suppress evidence, notably the video evidence, in his solicitati­on of prostituti­on case, ESPN reported. The motion is an effort to make sure the surveillan­ce video, described as graphic and damning, isn’t released if he doesn’t reach a plea deal with prosecutor­s.

Track and field: UNLV freshman Jada Hicks was named Mountain West outdoor athlete of the week after placing second in the 100-meter hurdles at the UNLV Spring Invitation­al in 13.45 seconds, which ranks first in the league and sixth nationally this season.

Horse racing: Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh sued the owners of Pimlico Race Course in an effort to seize the nearly 150-year-old course and block the move of the Preakness Stakes out of the city where it first was run in 1873.

Figure skating: At Saitama, Japan, Olympic champion Alina Zagitova, 16, of Russia posted a season-best score of 82.08 to take a 5.22-point lead after the short program to open the world championsh­ips.

NHL: Detroit signed goalie Jimmy Howard to a one-year, $4 million extension, bringing back the 34-year-old three-time All-star for a 14th NHL season, all with the Red Wings.
