Pence: NYT report of spying on Trump aide ‘troubling’
A New York Times report that the
FBI had used an investigator posing as an assistant to spy on President Donald Trump’s campaign aide George Papadopoulos was “very troubling,” Vice President Mike Pence said Friday.
“The (Robert) Mueller report is in, no collusion, no obstruction,” Pence told Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.” “Beyond that, we’ve got to get to the bottom of how all this started.”
If laws were broken during that surveillance, people must be held accountable, Pence said.
Meanwhile, Papadopoulos told The Joe Pags Show on Newsmax TV on Friday that the surveillance operation that targeted him and the Trump campaign in London involved the CIA and elements of the British government, and was not orchestrated by the FBI as reported.
