Elliott nabs NASCAR Cup pole with record lap at Dover track
Chase Elliott followed his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win of the season with the pole for Sunday’s Gander RV 400, topping the speed chart at Dover International Speedway with a record 165.960-mph lap.
Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron will start second, followed by Kyle Larson, Joey Logano and Hendrick’s Alex Bowman.
NASCAR trucks: At Dover, Del., Johnny Sauter took the lead with 30 laps left and held off Brett Moffitt after a restart with five laps to go, winning the JEGS 200. The victory was Sauter’s 24th in the series, first this year and third straight at Dover International Speedway.
