Report: President appears set to give troops pardon
President Donald Trump reportedly wants paperwork prepared for pardoning U.S. military members convicted or accused of war crimes.
The New York Times, citing two unnamed officials, reported the request for paperwork Saturday and said he was considering issuing the pardons on or near Memorial Day.
Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, a Navy SEAL set to stand trial on charges of killing a prisoner in Iraq, is one of the people being considered for a pardon, the report said.
The Department of Justice did not comment on the report.
