No. 2 Nadal tops No. 1 Djokovic, wins ninth title at Italian Open
Second-ranked Rafael Nadal defeated topranked Novak Djokovic 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 in Rome for a record-extending ninth Italian Open title.
It marked the first time in an Open Era-record 54 meetings, and 142 sets, that Nadal won a set against Djokovic without conceding a game. Nadal improved to 26-28 against Djokovic.
Karolina Pliskova beat Johanna Konta 6-3, 6-4 in the women’s final.
