‘Jeopardy!’ host Trebek to join Holzhauer at NHL ceremony

Las Vegas-based sports bettor James Holzhauer is set to present at the NHL’S annual awards show Wednesday, and joining him is the host of the show that made him famous.

The league announced Monday that “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek will be on hand Wednesday at Mandalay Bay Events Center to present “one of the night’s top honors.” It will be one of Trebek’s first public appearance­s since announcing his Stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis in March.

The NHL also said Monday that actor Jon Hamm, a native St. Louis and longtime St. Louis Blues fan, will introduce members of the Stanley Cup champions at the ceremony.

Rangers-jets trade: The New York Rangers acquired defenseman Jacob Trouba from Winnipeg for defenseman Neal Pionk and the 20th overall pick in the draft.

Trouba, 25, is a legitimate top-pairing defenseman who has 179 points in 408 regular-season NHL games, including eight goals and 42 assists last season. Pionk, 23, had six goals and 20 assists last season with New York in his second NHL season.

Ducks: Dallas Eakins, 52, was officially named Anaheim’s new coach after spending the past four seasons coaching the San Diego Gulls, the Ducks’ AHL affiliate. The move filled the NHL’S last head coaching vacancy. denied he made contact with plate umpire Bill Welke after being ejected for arguing a called third strike Saturday and said he will appeal his one-game suspension and fine.

Rangers: Outfielder Hunter Pence was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right groin strain.
