Giants call up former Gorman star Rickard

-

San Francisco promoted Bishop Gorman product Joey Rickard from Triple-a Sacramento after placing fellow outfielder Steven Duggar on the 10-day injured list because of an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder.

Rickard, 28, was batting .358 over 38 games for the River Cats. He has batted .245 with 19 home runs 67 RBIS and 19 stolen bases in 317 major league games, all with Baltimore, over the past four seasons.

Red Sox: Left-hander David Price was placed on the 10day injured list after an MRI examination revealed a cyst on his left wrist. The 33-year-old five-time All-star is 7-5 with a 4.36 ERA over 21 starts this season, including 0-4 with a 10.59 ERA in his past four outings. The cyst is not cancerous or related to any other serious illness, manager Alex Cora said.

Indians: Ace right-hander Corey Kluber, out since May 2 with a broken right forearm, pitched three innings in a rehabilitation start with Triple-a Columbus, throwing 41 pitches and allowing two home runs while striking out two.

Yankees: Two-time All-star second baseman Gleyber Torres underwent a battery of tests that determined his core injury is not a hernia or strain and accompanied the team to Toronto for its weekend series.

Cardinals: Right-hander Alex Reyes did not recover well from a bullpen session, his first since June, and returned to St. Louis for further examination for the pain in his right shoulder and pectoral muscle.

Mets: Right-handed reliever Brad Brach, released Monday by the Chicago Cubs, signed with

New York. The 33-year-old 2016 All-star has a 3.32 ERA in nine major league seasons with four teams.

Braves: Rookie outfielder Austin Riley (partially torn LCL in right knee) was placed on the 10day IL. The 22-year-old is batting .242 with 17 home runs and 45 RBIS through 66 games.

Mariners: Corner infielder Ryon Healy underwent debridement surgery on his right hip and will miss the rest of the season. The 27-year-old was limited to 47 games in 2019.

Astros: The team will extend the protective netting at Minute Maid Park to cover more of the seating area before the homestand starting Aug. 19.

Blue Jays: Rookie shortstop Bo Bichette extended his Toronto record with a double in a ninth straight game.

Phillies: Outfielder Jay Bruce (right oblique strain) was activated after missing three weeks.
