Houston ace Gerrit Cole said his sore right hamstring is “not super serious,” a day after he was a late scratch for the second game of a doubleheader.

Cole, 28, experienced discomfort while warming up and never took the mound. Manager A.J. Hinch said Cole will receive treatment and is unsure if the right-hander will make his next scheduled start Monday. Cole, 14-5 with a 2.87 ERA this season, has won 10 straight decisions.

Yankees: Connecticut police released body-camera footage showing officers in Darien stopping general manager Brian Cashman at gunpoint. Cashman, 52, later praised police for their professionalism during the encounter, which happened Friday as police responded to a report of a man with a gun inside a Jeep.

Nationals: Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (back strain), limited to one start since July 10, said he is “ready to get in a game.” Manager Dave Martinez said Scherzer still needs clearance from Washington’s head trainer before activating the 35-year-old ace.

Indians: Right fielder Yasiel Puig served the third and final game of his suspension for taking part in a July 30 altercation while with Cincinnati. The 28-year-old Cuban-born slugger was sworn in as a United States citizen earlier in the day in Miami.

Mets: All-star Jeff Mcneil (left hamstring strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 27-year-old, who is hitting .332 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIS this season, missed two weeks in May and June with the same injury.

Athletics: Right-hander Matt Harvey agreed to a minor league deal with Oakland, MLB Network reported. The 30-year-old went 3-5 with a 7.09 ERA in 12 starts this season with the Los Angeles Angels.

Pirates: Right-hander Jameson Taillon will miss the 2020 season after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his right elbow for a second time. The 27-year-old also had the procedure in April 2014.

Rays: Right fielder Avisail Garcia (right oblique strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 28-year-old has started 101 games this season, batting .278 with 17 home runs and 57 RBIS.

Phillies: Right-hander Jake Arrieta, 33, said he’s likely going to have season-ending surgery soon because of a bone spur in his pitching elbow.

Diamondbacks: Left-hander Robbie Ray left his start at Colorado in the third inning with spasms in his lower back.

Joined by four high school teammates, the four-time NBA MVP dedicated a multicolored outdoor basketball court at the I Promise School, which he founded last year for underprivileged children in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

The school, on which James is spending more than $1 million for various upgrades, just started its second academic year and serves more than 300 students from grades 3-5.

Clippers: Tyronn Lue is nearing a deal to become a top assistant on coach Doc Rivers’ staff, ESPN reported. The 42-year-old was fired as Cleveland’s coach six games into 201819 after guiding the Cavaliers to three straight NBA Finals berths and going 128-83 in threeplus seasons.

Wizards: Antawn Jamison was hired as director of pro personnel. The 43-year-old, who played six of his 17 NBA seasons with the Wizards, spent the past two as a Los Angeles Lakers scout.
