-

Former Army outfielder and captain Jacob Hurtubise agreed to a $20,000 minor league deal with Cincinnati, becoming the first baseball player to get a professional offer since the U.S. Department of Defense endorsed a policy in November to allow service academy athletes to pursue pro sports after graduation. The Indiana native is the Army and Patriot League career leader in steals (105) and walks (142).

Yankees: Suspended pitcher Domingo German cast doubt on his baseball future with curious Instagram posts, one that translates to “I’ve left baseball. Thanks everyone.” The 27-yearold right-hander, who has 63 games left to serve on a domestic violence suspension, was New York’s winningest pitcher in 2019, going 18-4 with a 4.03 ERA.

Angels: Reliever Justin Anderson will undergo Tommy John surgery Wednesday and miss the season. The 27-year-old right-hander has 127 strikeouts in 102 1/3 innings since his 2018 debut.

Brewers: All-star right-hander Brandon Woodruff was picked to be Milwaukee’s seventh different opening day starter in the past seven years. The 27-year-old went 11-3 with a 3.62 ERA in 2019.

Twins: Manager Rocco Baldelli chose two-time All-star right-hander Jose Berrios to make his second straight opening day start. The 26-year-old went 14-8 with a 3.68 ERA in 2019.

Rockies: Two veteran relievers, lefthander Jake Mcgee and right-hander Bryan Shaw, who each signed a threeyear, $27 million deal before 2018, were released.
