Three men arrested following Saturday shooting near Strip
Clark County jail records indicate three men have been arrested in connection with the shooting of three people in front of a bar and liquor store just off the Strip on Saturday.
Lee Owens, 28, Qiwon Whittiker, 23, and Donald Zackery, 21, were arrested by Metropolitan Police Department gang detectives. They were booked at the Clark County Detention Center on Monday in connection with an early Saturday shooting in the parking lot of the Stage Door Casino, 4000 Linq Lane, near Las Vegas Boulevard South and Flamingo Road, according to arrest records and a statement from Metro Tuesday afternoon.
Each suspect was booked on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, according to jail records. Zackery also faces a single count of owning or possessing a gun by a prohibited person.
Police believe the three were involved in a fight with another man who ran from the trio. When the three men found the victim, they fired multiple rounds that hit three bystanders, who were taken to University Medical Center with unknown injuries but were expected to survive.
Las Vegas police Lt. Frank Humel said Saturday that officers were flagged down at 3:30 a.m. regarding the shooting.
The shooting is among a string of violent acts to unfold in the area of the Strip in recent weeks.
In one of those cases, police say they are continuing to investigate a high-profile shooting on the Strip in front of Aria on Sept. 22. But so far no arrests have been made.
One person was grazed by gunfire in the 11:08 p.m. shooting in the valet area of Aria during a party for rapper Moneybagg Yo. Las Vegas police confirm no arrests have been made yet in the case.
Police said they are making progress but are not saying whether they believe they know the identity of the gunman.
“The suspect is still outstanding and it is an open and active investigation,” officer Misael Parra said.
