Wilson, No. 14 BYU rally in second half to beat Houston
Zach Wilson threw for 400 yards and four touchdowns to rally No. 14 Brigham Young past host Houston 43-26. Dax Milne had nine catches for 184 yards and three TDS for BYU (5-0), which trailed 26-14 in the third quarter. Clayton Tune threw for 310 yards and two
TDS and ran for a score for Houston (1-1).
■ Southern Methodist: At New Orleans, cornerback Brandon Crossley ended the first overtime possession with an interception, and Chris Naggar kicked a 34-yard field goal to lift the No. 17 Mustangs past Tulane 37-34. Shane Buechele threw for 384 yards and two TDS for SMU (5-0, 3-0 American Athletic). Michael Pratt threw for one TD and scored two for the Green Wave (2-3, 0-3).
■ SEC: The Southeastern Conference postponed next week’s game between
Missouri and No. 10 Florida to Oct. 31, the third league contest moved this week because of COVID-19 outbreaks. The Gators had at least 21 players and coaches test positive for the virus and dozens more quarantined.
■ Kansas: Coach Les Miles was cleared to return to the team after his positive COVID-19 test but out of caution is skipping the Jayhawks’ trip to West Virginia for Saturday’s game. The 66-year-old said he experienced only mild virus symptoms.
■ Florida State: Former coach Bobby Bowden was released from a Tallahassee hospital Thursday after being treated for COVID-19 since Oct. 6. The 90-year-old Hall of Famer is second on the major college football wins list with 357.
■ Southern Mississippi: The team’s game at Texas-el Paso became the sixth scheduled for Saturday to be postponed this week after the school announced an unspecified increase in positive COVID-19 test results.
