Fans will be in the stands for UNLV’S first two football games at Allegiant Stadium after the school’s plan was approved by local and state officials Friday.

UNLV will be permitted to admit up to 3 percent of the stadium’s capacity, or 2,000 people, for its first two home games. The plan must be resubmitted for games after Nov. 14.

The Rebels will host their first game at Allegiant Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 against UNR. They will host Fresno State on Nov. 7.

“We appreciate the work of the Southern Nevada Health District and the state of Nevada throughout this process,” UNLV athletic director Desiree Reed-francois said in a statement. “We have been in constant communication with both entities as well as with Allegiant Stadium to interpret the guidelines with respect to specific facility capabilities.”

Gov. Steve Sisolak’s directive for gatherings at stadiums allows for up to 10 percent capacity, but UNLV’S plan allows it to comply with restrictions requiring sections of 250 people or less, separated by at least 25 feet.

Game attendees will be required to be screened upon entry, wear a face covering and maintain social distancing, among other health and safety protocols.

“The health and safety of everyone involved, both on the field and in the stands, is our primary concern, and although attendance will be limited, we can’t wait to get our season started and look forward to next Saturday’s historic home opener in Allegiant Stadium,” Reed-francois said.

A limited number of single-game tickets will be available to Rebel Athletic Fund members who are season ticket holders, with point order determining selections.

Tickets for the UNR game will go on sale Tuesday. Ticket pricing for the UNR and Boise State game Dec. 4 will begin at $110, and $88 for the games against Fresno State and Wyoming on Nov. 27.

Season ticket holders can defer the funds toward 2021 season tickets, donate the funds to the Rebel Athletic Fund or receive a refund. The first two options allow season ticket holders to keep their same seats in 2021.

The Rebels open the season on the road against San Diego State on Saturday.
