Trump Jr., GOP senator infected with coronavirus
WASHINGTON — Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump, was quarantining Friday after learning that he is infected with the coronavirus, a representative said.
The younger Trump learned of his diagnosis at the beginning of the week and has had no symptoms, said the representative, who was granted anonymity to discuss private medical information.
Trump Jr. is following all medically recommended guidelines for COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, the representative added.
Elsewhere, Sen. Rick Scott of Florida said Friday that he had tested positive for the coronavirus and is isolating at home with “very mild symptoms.” He’s the second senator and at least the eighth member of Congress to announce a positive test this week. In the Senate, Iowa’s Chuck Grassley became the first.
Also, a senior civilian Pentagon official, Anthony Tata, tested positive for COVID-19 after meeting last week with the Lithuanian defense minister, who also tested positive for the virus, the Pentagon announced.
Meanwhile, Ben Carson, secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, took to Facebook on Friday to report that he has been “extremely sick” with the coronavirus. But Carson said the worst is behind him.
Carson said his initial symptoms were light, but then he became “desperately ill” and added that he has “several co-morbidities” that played a role.
“President Trump was following my condition and cleared me for the monoclonal antibody therapy that he had previously received, which I am convinced saved my life,” Carson wrote. He said he is now “out of the woods.”
