Kemp, seeking first LPGA win, nabs one-stroke lead

Sarah Kemp shot 4-under-par 67 at firm and fast Kingsmill Resort for a 6-under 136 total to take a one-stroke lead at the Pure Silk Championsh­ip’s midpoint in Williamsbu­rg, Virginia. The 35-year-old Australian is winless in a 14year LPGA Tour career. Ana Belac (67), Jessica Korda (67) and Stacy Lewis (69) were tied for second.

■ NBA: Commission­er Adam Silver said his personal preference is for the play-in tournament to continue after this season and that it was a success because of the incentive it gave teams to care until the end of the regular season, with 24 of 30 teams having a postseason shot over the final two weeks.

■ Tennis: At Parma, Italy, Coco Gauff reached her first clay-court final by beating Katerina Siniakova 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 in the Emilia-romagna Open. The 17-year-old American next faces 48thranked Wang Qiang, who ousted former U.S. Open champion Sloane Stephens 6-2, 7-6 (3).
