Leafs captain Tavares out of hospital; return unclear

Toronto captain John Tavares was discharged from St. Michael’s Hospital, one day after leaving the ice on a stretcher following a knee to his head in the Maple Leafs’ Game 1 loss to Montreal. Coach Sheldon Keefe said the 30-year-old center has a concussion and is sidelined indefinite­ly. Tavares had 19 goals and 31 assists over 56 games in 2020-21.

■ Wild: Right wing Marcus Johansson sustained a broken left arm in the first period of Minnesota’s Game 3 loss to the Golden Knights and will be sidelined for the rest of the series. The 30-year-old had six goals and eight assists over 36 games in 2020-21 after being acquired from Buffalo.

■ Canucks: Coach Travis Green, in the last year of his contract after being hired in April 2017, signed a two-year extension. The 50-year-old is 125-13232, including 23-29-4 in 2020-21.
