Callaway banned through ’22 over harassment probe

MLB suspended former New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway through at least the end of the 2022 season after an investigat­ion of sexual harassment allegation­s. In a report published Feb. 1, The Athletic said Callaway “aggressive­ly pursued” several women who work in sports media and sent three “inappropri­ate” photos. Callaway, 46, was Cleveland’s pitching coach for five years before managing the Mets in 2018 and 2019. He was hired in October 2019 as pitching coach for the Los Angeles Angels, who suspended him Feb. 2 and fired him Wednesday.

■ Astros: Right-hander Lance Mccullers Jr. (right shoulder strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 27-year-old has a 2.96 ERA through nine 2021 starts. Also, left-hander Framber Valdez (left ring finger fracture) is to make his season debut Friday. The 27-year-old had a 3.57 ERA in 10 2020 starts.

■ Orioles: Right-hander Dean Kremer was optioned to Triple-a Norfolk, and outfielder Austin Hays (left hamstring strain) was placed on the 10-day IL. Kremer, a 25-year-old UNLV product, is 0-5 with a 6.87 ERA in nine 2021 starts.

■ Yankees: Right-hander Corey Kluber (sub-scapular strain in right rotator cuff) will be sidelined at least eight weeks, and first baseman Luke Voit (Grade 2 oblique strain) was placed on the 10-day IL.

■ Braves: Left fielder Marcell Ozuna (fractured left ring, middle fingers) was placed on the 10-day IL, and the 30-yearold two-time All-star is expected to be sidelined at least six weeks.

■ Reds: Center fielder/second baseman Nick Senzel (inflamed left knee), on the IL since Friday, will require arthroscop­ic surgery and be sidelined four to six weeks, manager David Bell said.

■ Cubs: Infielder Nico Hoerner (left hamstring strain) was placed on the 10day IL. The 24-year-old has batted .338 in 21 games this season.

■ Twins: Infielder/left fielder Luis Arraez (right shoulder strain) was placed on the 10-day IL.

■ Rangers: Outfielder David Dahl (left rib cage contusion) was placed on the 10-day IL.

■ Giants: First baseman Brandon Belt (left oblique strain) was placed on the 10-day IL.
