Nevada fishing report

- Nevada Department of Wildlife

Lake Mead — Stripers are attacking Kastmasters, topwater lures and crankbaits in shad patterns thrown from shore and boat. Anglers are reporting the most boils in the Overton Arm. Black bass are hitting lures in the shallows. Try Ratl-traps or soft plastics in purple and green pumpkin. Bluegill and sunfish are taking night crawler pieces in the Government Wash area.

Lake Mohave/ Willow Beach — Panther Martins are the go-to lures for rainbow trout anglers. Some trout are in the 2-pound range. Boaters trolling swimbaits and umbrella rigs have caught striped bass up to 10 pounds. Black bass are hitting lures on the lake in about a foot of water.

Laughlin — Black bass anglers are having luck with pencil poppers and Rat-l-traps thrown near dense vegetation. Rainbow trout action has slowed, but fish still can be found cruising shaded areas just offshore. For striped bass, try using anchovies just south of

Big Bend State Recreation Area.

Las Vegas urban ponds —

Action slowed as temperatures pushed beyond 110 degrees. Anglers are catching bluegill and catfish on cloudy mornings. Bluegill action has picked up, with mealworms and chartreuse grubs working best.

Kirch Wildlife Management Area —

Bass and catfish provide the most summer action. Bass are catch-and-release on Dacey Reservoir until Wednesday. Aquatic vegetation is accumulating along the dam and boat launch areas. Kayaks and other paddle craft are good options for getting past the weeds.

Eagle Valley Reservoir —

Anglers are catching rainbow and tiger trout at sunrise using night crawler pieces and Powerbait. Fly-fishers are catching fish on olive Woolly Buggers and nymph patterns. Bass are catch-and-release through Wednesday. Crappies are biting on chartreuse tube jigs.

Echo Canyon Reservoir —

Trout action has slowed with rising water temperatures, but bass and crappies still are biting. Lures have been working best for most anglers, with green colorations working best. Water will be low through the summer, so use caution along the shoreline.
