Local resident Mcnealy’s eagle spurs Fortinet lead

Las Vegas resident Maverick Mcnealy overcame three consecutiv­e bogeys and holed out from 74 yards for eagle on the last for an 8-under-par 64 and the second-round Fortinet Championsh­ip lead in Napa, California. Winless in 66 tour starts, Mcnealy had nine birdies to get to 12-under 132, two shots better than Beau Hossler (64) and Mito Pereira (67).

■ LPGA: At West Linn, Ore., secondrank­ed Jin Young Ko needed only 23 putts in a 5-under 67 that left her at 8-under 136 and with a one-shot lead at the Cambia Portland Classic’s midpoint. Gemma Dryburgh (69) was alone in second.

■ European PGA: At Cromvoirt, Netherland­s, 772nd-ranked Kristoffer Broberg of Sweden had nine birdies in a course-record 8-under 64 for a 12-under 132 total and a one-shot lead at the Dutch Open’s midpoint.

■ Champions: At Sioux Falls, S.D.,

K.J. Choi closed eagle-birdie-birdie in a bogey-free 7-under 63 to share a onestroke lead with Darren Clarke after the Sanford Internatio­nal’s first round.
