Local product Stott named Phillies’ top minor leaguer

The Philadelph­ia Phillies named infielder Bryson Stott, who played at UNLV and Desert Oasis High School, their minor player of the year. Before Friday, the 23-year-old was hitting .294 with 26 doubles, 15 home runs, 46 RBIS, nine steals and an .874 OPS between High-a Jersey Shore in Lakewood,

New Jersey, and Double-a Reading (Pennsylvan­ia). The Phillies selected him 14th overall in the 2019 draft.

■ Volleyball: At Tempe, Ariz., Mariena Hayden had 18 kills and nine digs to lead UNLV (8-2) to its sixth straight win, a 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 victory over Pacific (3-8) in the Sparky Invitation­al. The match had 42 ties and 17 lead changes.
