-

Hal de Becker, Sr., of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully on May 13th, 2021. Born in NY, NY, he was the third generation of a theatrical familyson of stage and film actor Harold de Becker and actress Dorothy Daniels de Becker. His career began as a child actor on Broadway, where he appeared on stage with Ingrid Bergman, Burgess Meredith, and Elia Kazan; and worked in films with Marlene Dietrich, Elizabeth Taylor, and Mickey Rooney. His passion for dance began in 1944 when legendary choreographer, George Balanchine, set a dance for him and two other young actors for the world premiere stage production of Song of Norway. In the following years he developed into a premier ballet dancer. Later he and his wife at the time, Linda, toured all of Europe, performing as "Belinda and de Becker." Locally, they performed with stars such as Liberace and Nat King Cole. Hal also produced many shows in the US and Europe. For over 40 years, he taught hundreds of professional dancers at the historic Backstage Dance Studio, here in Las Vegas, and was highly regarded as a master of his craft. His family, friends, and colleagues will miss his passion for the arts, fast wit, and sense of humor.
