BRIAN EARL GASKILL
Lt Col(ret)brian Earl Gaskill, age 82, husband, father, Grandfather, brother and friend passed away September 5, 2021
He was born April 1, 1939 to Donovan and Esther Gaskill in Englewood, Ohio. The family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1946. He attended University of AZ and enlisted in the Air Force August 1, 1961. After basic training he joined the Aviation
Cadet program and graduated as second lieutenant Aug 7, 1962.
He flew the next few years in the C130E Hercules. Flying 350 combat
Missions in Viet Nam and Laos. In 1970 he switched to intelligence and spent
The next three years as chief of Intelligence for the new F-111D squadron. He served as Intelligence Watch Officer and J2 Joint Plans Chief for United Nations Command in Seoul, Republic of Korea. He was Asst. Deputy Chief
of Staff for Intelligence 9th Air Force. He spent two years as a team chief
for USAF Inspector General at Norton AFB. Then to Bergstrom AFB for two years as Commander, 12th Tactical Intelligence Squadron. He returned to
Korea for a year as Adcs/intelligence for combined USAF/ROKAF Air Command. Final assignment to Nellis AFB serving six years as Chief of Operational
Intelligence Support Division of the USAF Tactical Fighter Weapons Center.
During his 28 year career, he earned the Meritorious Service Medal with
Four Oak Leaf clusters, the Air Medal with 10 Oak Leaf clusters and 18 lesser Medals and ribbons. Post military service he worked as secondary
Substitute teacher in the Clark County School District for nine years.
He is survived by his wife Peggy (Benson), his sons Bradley; Gregory(krysta); two Grandsons Xander and Seth; two step grandsons Brendan and Quinlan Smith and sister
Sharon Whitthorne of Tucson.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1pm Sept 18 at Green Valley Ev Lutheran Church at
1799 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson, NV 89074 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers the family
