Steve P. Hinkell, 75, of Henderson, passed away August 20, 2021 in Las Vegas. Steve was born July 10, 1946 in Miami, to John and Frances Hinkell. His family moved to Massachuse­tts in 1951 and came to Henderson in 1954. Steve attended St. Peter’s Catholic School and Basic High, Class of 1964. His football skills earned him several scholarshi­ps. But, he joined the Navy and did three tours in Vietnam where he was highly decorated. He returned to play football at Dixie College and then Weber State University in Ogden, UT while studying Electrical Engineerin­g. He returned to Las Vegas and was a successful General Contractor and Electrical Contractor. He was married to Carol Bird Hinkell for ten years. After their divorce he later met Alice Madrigal and they were together over 30 years until she passed in 2016. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and Son, Jeffrey P. Hinkell. He is survived by his son Brian (Stacy) Hinkell, stepdaught­er Melissa (Sean) Smith, stepson Bryan Madrigal, Steve’s brother, John (Kathleen) Hinkell and sisters Madeline (Darell) von der Linden, Millicent Lauber and Francene Barbee, Granddaugh­ters Briana (Dustin) Davis, Sydney Hinkell, Madison Hinkell, Grandson Logan Smith and very new great granddaugh­ter Dylan Davis. Steve was loved by all his family especially his many nieces and nephews and his many good friends. Steve was always generous, protective and mentored anyone who asked. He lived a big life. In lieu of flowers please contribute to "Fallen but not Forgotten" or "Internatio­nal Fellowship of Christians and Jews." Services will be at 11 a.m. Sat., Sept. 18, at Davis Funeral Home Eastern. Burial will follow at Davis Memorial Park.
