Pujols’ single in 10th gives Dodgers win

DENVER — Pinch hitter Albert Pujols drove in the go-ahead run with a single up the middle in the 10th inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers overcame a rare off night by major league wins leader Julio Urías to beat the Colorado Rockies 5-4 Tuesday.

The Dodgers have won nine of their last 10 to remain on the heels of San Francisco in the NL West.

TUESDAY’S GAMES

Pujols lined a slider from Jhoulys Chacín (3-2) to score Gavin Lux, who began at second base under baseball’s extra-innings rule. Pujols was loudly cheered by the large cluster of Dodgers fans at Coors Field.

Kenley Jansen (3-4) pitched out of a two-on, two-out jam in the ninth to earn the win. Brusdar Graterol got two outs in the 10th before giving way to Alex Vesia, who picked up save No. 1 by getting Colton Welker to fly out.

■ Phillies 3, Orioles 2: At Philadelph­ia, CSN and Las Vegas High product Bryce Harper put his head down and sprinted from first base to score as soon as J.T. Realmuto hit a walk-off two-run triple with two outs in the 10th inning.

■ Cardinals 2, Brewers 1: At Milwaukee, Jake Woodford (3-3) and four relievers combined on a four-hitter as St. Louis won its 10th straight game.

■ Blue Jays 4, Rays 2: At St. Petersburg,

Fla., Bo Bichette gave Toronto a 3-2 lead with his 98th RBI, a sixth-inning sacrifice fly off Nick Anderson (0-1).

■ Red Sox 6, Mets 3: At Boston, Xander Bogaerts hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the fifth inning and a two-run double in the sixth. Kiké Hernández added a homer for Boston.

■ Yankees 7, Rangers 1: At New York, Giancarlo Stanton lined a laser beam of a home run and Aaron Judge added a three-run shot to back Jordan Montgomery (6-6), who struck out six in 5⅔ innings.

■ Nationals 7, Marlins 1: At Miami, Juan Soto and rookie Keibert Ruiz had two hits and an RBI each to back Josh Rogers (2-0), who struck out four in 7⅔ innings of one-run ball.

■ Pirates 6, Reds 2: At Cincinnati, Ben Gamel homered and Ke’bryan Hayes had three hits to back Mitch Keller (5-11), who won for the first time since Aug. 20.

■ Indians 4, Royals 1: At Cleveland, Yu Chang hit a bases-loaded triple off left fielder Andrew Benintendi’s glove in the first inning to back Cal Quantrill (7-3), who struck out six in 6⅔ innings.

■ Tigers 5, White Sox 3: At Detroit, Akil Baddoo and Victor Reyes drove in two runs apiece. Chicago has lost five of its last seven games.

■ Twins 9, Cubs 5: At Chicago, Nick Gordon hit a two-run homer and two singles. Josh Donaldson and Max Kepler each added three hits and two RBIS.

■ Mariners 5, Athletics 2: At Oakland, Calif., J.P. Crawford hit a home run in the ninth inning and finished with three hits. Matt Olson hit his career-high 37th home run.

■ Astros 10, Angels 5: At Anaheim, Calif., Aledmys Díaz and Kyle Tucker hit back-to-back homers in the second inning and drove in three runs apiece. Shohei Ohtani hit his 45th homer in the eighth inning.

■ Braves 6, Diamondbac­ks 1: At Phoenix, Austin Riley and Ozzie Albies both launched tworun homers. Jorge Soler added a solo homer for Atlanta, which won its third in a row.
