Robert W. Stark, 91, a resident of Las Vegas since 1990, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021. He was born November 11, 1929, in Kansas City, MO to Roy and Lesta Mae Stark. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Irene, two of his four children, Robert (Stark) Primm of Evanston, WY, and Catherine Lee (Stark) Alfaro of Ontario, CA, his grandchild­ren Scott, Karalynne, Nisha, Eric and Cosby, and ten great grandchild­ren. Bob was preceded in death by two sons, Rod Wayne Stark and Roy Cosby Stark and siblings Ruth, Delores, Lloyd, Naomi, Russell, and Richard. Growing up in Kansas City, KS, Bob attended Rosedale High School. After high school he joined the military, serving in both the Navy and Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War with the U.S. Second Infantry Division. Upon his discharge from the Army, Bob moved to California where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. During a nearly 30-year career in education, he taught industrial arts and special education at Luther Burbank Junior High School in Los Angeles advancing to the status of “master teache r.” After his retirement, Bob started a second career as a locksmith and he and Irene moved to Las Vegas. Bob was a devoted family man. He also had an enormous love for animals and was particular­ly fond of cats. He felt at home in the great outdoors and enjoyed communing with the creatures he encountere­d there. He delighted in taking road trips and the RV lifestyle. With a variety of campers, trailers and motorhomes over the years, he and Irene made many memorable cross-country road trips. He also loved sailing, was a motorcycle enthusiast, a collector of treasures and a handyman extraordin­aire. If you wish to honor Bob, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or the ASPCA.
