Miller, Canucks erupt, halt Calgary’s win streak at 10

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — J.T. Miller had two goals and two assists as Vancouver halted Calgary’s 10-game win streak with a 7-1 victory on Thursday.

Elias Petterssen and Bo Horvat each scored twice to back Thatcher Demko, who stopped 29 shots, as the Canucks won for the fourth time in five games.

Andrew Mangiapane scored with 2:07 left for the Flames (30-14-6), who lost for the first time since Jan. 27. Calgary outscored opponents 40-15 while matching its record with a third 10-game win streak.

Jacob Markstrom stopped 18 of 21 shots before leaving with 1:46 left in the second period to have a skate blade replaced. Dan Vladar replaced him and gave up two goals on three shots in the period, including a Miller penalty shot with five seconds left that made it 5-0.

■ Sharks 4, Islanders 3, SO: At San Jose, Calif., Logan Couture had the lone shootout goal after scoring on a secondperi­od power play as San Jose halted a seven-game slide during which it was 0-3-4. New York’s Zdeno Chara broke the NHL record for regular-season games by a defenseman with his 1,652nd, breaking Hall of Famer Chris Chelios’ mark. Chara, 44, the tallest player in NHL history at 6 feet 9 inches, has been in the league since 1997.

■ Blue Jackets 6, Panthers 3: At Sunrise, Fla., Cole Sillinger and Justin

Danforth scored 10 seconds apart midway through the third period for Columbus to back J-F Berube, who had 39 saves in the Blue Jackets’ fourth straight win. Florida had won its past eight against Columbus.

■ Maple Leafs 3, Wild 1: At Toronto, Auston Matthews scored his 35th and 36th goals to take the NHL lead and back Petr Mrazek, who stopped 29 shots, as Toronto halted a three-game skid. Matthews notched the go-ahead goal after a Minnesota turnover with 9:38 left.

■ Rangers 4, Capitals 1: At New York, Alexis Lafreniere and Mika Zibanejad each had a goal and an assist to back

Igor Shesterkin, who had 36 saves in New York’s fifth win in six games. The Rangers are 8-2-1 in their past 11 games and 9-12 in their past 12 at home.

■ Predators 2, Stars 1, SO: At Nashville, Tenn., Mikael Granlund scored the lone goal of a four-round shootout on a night Nashville retired former goaltender Pekka Rinne’s No. 35 jersey before a franchise-record crowd of 17,869.

■ Devils 6, Penguins 1: At Pittsburgh, Jesper Bratt scored twice in the first six minutes, and rookie Nico Daws stopped 37 shots to win for the first time since his NHL debut in October.

■ Bruins 3, Kraken 2, OT: At Seattle, Jake Debrusk scored his second goal of the night 33 seconds into overtime as Boston won its third straight and dealt Seattle its sixth loss in a row.
