Carolina WR Moore gets three-year, $61.9M deal

Carolina wide receiver D.J. Moore agreed to a three-year, $61.9 million extension, with $41.61 million guaranteed. The 24-year-old has

301 catches for 4,313 yards and 14 touchdowns in four seasons with the Panthers. Also, two 28-year-old free agents, defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis and linebacker Damien Wilson, agreed to deals with Carolina with undisclose­d terms. Ioannidis spent the past six seasons with Washington, and Wilson had 106 tackles for Jacksonvil­le in 2021 after four seasons with Dallas and two with Kansas City.

■ Bears: Free-agent defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi’s three-year, $40.5 million deal was negated because the 27-year-old failed a physical. He sustained an ankle injury in the playoffs with Cincinnati after totaling a careerhigh seven regular-season sacks. He has 21.5 sacks in five NFL seasons, the first four with Cleveland.

■ Draft: Top linebacker prospect David Ojabo sustained a left leg injury in his pro day workout at Michigan. The Nigeria native had 11 sacks as a junior in 2021, when he was voted All-america second team, and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds at the scouting combine.

■ Cowboys: Linebacker Leighton Vander Esch agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal after the fifth-year option on his 2018 rookie contract wasn’t exercised. The 26-year-old first-round draft pick made the Pro Bowl as a rookie but since has been plagued by injuries.

■ Chiefs: Free-agent wide receiver Juju Smith-schuster agreed to a oneyear, $10.75 million deal. The 25-yearold Southern California product has 323 catches for 3,855 yards and 26 TDS in five NFL seasons, all with Pittsburgh.

■ Packers: Free-agent punter

Pat O’donnell agreed to a deal with undisclose­d terms. The 31-year-old spent his first eight seasons with Chicago and has a gross average of 45.1 yards. His 39.3 net average is a Bears franchise record.

■ Obit: John Clayton, one of the country’s foremost NFL insiders who covered the league to great depths during a 20-plus-year career at ESPN, died Friday after a brief illness, his family said. He was 67.
