No. 1 South Carolina sets records in rout of Howard

Aliyah Boston had 10 points and 12 rebounds for No. 1 South Carolina, which held Howard to the fewest points in a women’s NCAA Tournament game in a 79-21 win in Columbia, South Carolina.

The 21 points for the 16th-seeded Bison (21-10) broke the record by Kansas State, which scored 26 against Connecticu­t in 2012. The Gamecocks (30-2) led 44-4 at intermissi­on, setting a tournament mark for fewest points allowed in a half.

■ No. 10 Iowa State 78, Texasarlin­gton 71: At Ames, Iowa, Ashley

Joens scored 36 points for the thirdseede­d Cyclones (27-6), who overcame a 12-point first-half deficit. The 14th-seeded Mavericks (20-8) led 41-35 at intermissi­on.

■ Creighton 84, Colorado 74: At Iowa City, Iowa, Morgan Maly scored 20 points for the 10th-seeded Bluejays (21-9), who overcame an 11-2 deficit. Jaylyn Sherrod had 27 points for the seventh-seeded Buffaloes (22-9), who got as close as 7268 after intermissi­on.

■ Miami 78, South Florida 66: At Columbia, S.C., Karla Erjavec had 14 points to lead five scorers in double figures for the eighth-seeded Hurricanes (21-12), who shot 54 percent. The ninth-seeded Bulls (24-9) trailed by at least nine points for the entire second half.

■ Georgia 70, Dayton 54: At Ames, Iowa, Jenna Staiti scored 19 points for the sixth-seeded Bulldogs (21-9), who pulled away after a first half that had six lead changes and four ties. Makira Cook had 21 points for the 11th-seeded Flyers (26-6).

■ No. 8 Iowa 98, Illinois State 58:

At Iowa City, Iowa, Caitlin Clark had 27 points and 10 assists for the secondseed­ed Hawkeyes (24-7), who led 43-29 at halftime. Juju Redmond scored 25 points for the 15th-seeded Redbirds (19-14).
