Lady Gaga set to perform at Grammys

-

THE Grammys say, “You didn’t think we’d show up to Vegas without her, did you?” The organization is speaking of Lady Gaga. The pop superstar and award-winning actress is in town for Sunday’s awards show at the MGM Grand Garden.

The event will make its first appearance in Las Vegas, broadcasting at 5 p.m. Sunday on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

Those familiar with plans for the show say Gaga will perform a medley of “Love for Sale” and “Do I Love You” in a five-minute set conducted by Michael Bearden.

Her participation was evident Thursday night, when Brian Newman turned up at Park MGM for the Silk Sonic show at Dolby Live. Newman is Gaga’s bandleader in “Jazz + Piano” at Dolby Live and a headliner in “After Dark” at Nomad Library. Both shows are back at Park MGM on April 14. Newman is playing a oneoff at Mayfair Supper Club on Sunday night, post-grammys.

Tony Bennett also was reportedly in the early planning for Sunday’s Grammys telecast, but the entertainment legend will not participate. Gaga and Bennett appeared together in August at Radio City Music Hall to mark Bennett’s 95th birthday. That show was to serve as the final live performance of Bennett’s legendary career.

Gaga is nominated for five Grammy Awards this year for her duet album with Bennett, “Love for Sale.” Nominations include album of the year and record of the year for “I Get a Kick Out of You.”

The announcements did not stop with Gaga.

The Recording Academy has confirmed Keith Urban as a performer and presenter in the show. Urban closes his most recent run at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace this weekend. Justin Bieber, Daniel Caesar and Giveon are expected to perform their hit single “Peaches,” nominated for four awards. Lenny Kravitz and Blink-182’s

Travis Barker reportedly will join H.E.R. for a medley of “Damage,” “We Made It” and “Are You Gonna Go My Way.”

Gaga also appeared at Sunday’s Academy Awards, drawing widespread praise for her touching interaction with Liza Minnelli as the two awarded the best picture Oscar to “CODA.” As Minnelli struggled with the list of nominees, Gaga said, “I got you.” Minnelli answered, “I know.”

Fast company

Formula One’s leading figure made a righteous pit stop Thursday night. It was a real gas, too.

Series CEO Stefano Domenicali took in the Silk Sonic show at Dolby Live. Domenicali and his team were in town to announce the Las Vegas Grand Prix, set for November 2023. The former chairman of Lamborghini, Domenicali has been heading up the F1 tour since January 2021.

We also met entertainment super agent John Marx of Endeavor Holdings (formerly William Morris Endeavor Entertainment), who reps Bruno Mars and Usher. Otherwise, pretty thin client list (cough). Usher is now in the Dolby Live headliner rotation, opening his 23-show run July 15.

Once again, Dolby Live was slammed for the Silk Sonic duo of Mars and Anderson .Paak, with dance fever breaking out all over the place.

Cranston-paul residency

It’s beginning to feel as if “Breaking Bad” co-stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul are recurring headliners in

Las Vegas. On Friday, they hopscotched hot spots for the second time in eight weeks, visiting La Comida on Fremont East and the Mob Museum in downtown Las Vegas before hitting Margaritaville at the Flamingo, Zouk Nightclub at Resorts World Las Vegas and Delilah at Wynn Las Vegas.

The actors are partners in Dos Hombres mezcal. Promotions for that company call for a lot of legwork and networking, which the guys seem to enjoy. In the afternoon, the two met the famed Las Vegas Goodmans — Mayor Carolyn and former Mayor Oscar — at the Mob Museum’s Underground

hideaway lounge.

Mob Museum President and CEO Jonathan Ullman tipped us off that Oscar Goodman would be “breaking bad,” and drinking something other than Bombay Sapphire in public.

Goodman had a few sips of chilled mezcal. He liked it. “This is good: I can have my Bombay and get good and loosened up, then switch to this and go to sleep.”

Dos Hombres is Cranston and Paul’s only business venture. They have no plans to reunite on TV or film projects.

“Man, this is a full-time job,” Paul said during a quick chat at the bar. “But it’s also the best time.”

Cranston said the two plan more flights of fancy in Vegas.

“We love Vegas, and it’s a great, great place to develop a foundation,” Cranston said. “Everybody in the country and world comes to Las Vegas.”
