Trejo scores twice to lead Lights FC past Charleston

Danny Trejo scored twice to lead Lights FC past the Charleston Battery 2-1 in a United Soccer League match Friday in Charleston, South Carolina. Trejo scored in first-half stoppage time to answer Augustine Williams’ penaltykic­k goal in the eighth minute. The decisive goal came in the 56th minute. The Battery (1-3) had edges of 17-11 in shots and 6-4 in shots on goal, and the Lights (3-2) led in possession time at 57 percent.

■ Women’s soccer: Former U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo was arrested Thursday and charged with driving while impaired, resisting a public officer and misdemeano­r child abuse after the 40-year-old was found passed out behind the wheel of a running vehicle in Winston-salem, North Carolina, with her 2-year-old twins inside.

■ NHL: The league-record consecutiv­e games-played streak of Philadelph­ia defenseman Keith Yandle (illness) could end at 989 on Saturday. The 35-yearold, who has not missed a regularsea­son game since March 22, 2009, passed Doug Jarvis to become the NHL ironman when he played in his 965th straight game Jan. 25.

■ NFL: Miami cornerback Xavier Howard agreed to a five-year, $90 million deal, making the 28-year-old three-time Pro Bowl selection the league’s top-paid player at his position, based on average annual salary. His 27 intercepti­ons since he entered the NFL in 2016 pace the league.

■ Swimming: At Fort Myers, Fla., Las Vegan Katie Grimes won the women’s 10K race in the U.S. Open Water Nationals, earning the 16-year-old Sandpipers of Nevada product and 2020 Olympian a berth on the national team.

■ Motor sports: At Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Leah Pruett (Top Fuel), John Force (Funny Car) and Aaron Stanfield (Pro Stock) led NHRA Four-wide Nationals qualifying.
