Mcdavid, Oilers slip past Blues in OT

EDMONTON, Alberta — Connor Mcdavid scored his second goal of the night 1:11 into overtime to lift Edmonton past St. Louis 6-5 on Friday.

Zach Hyman also scored twice, and Evander Kane had a goal and two assists for the Oilers in their third straight win and ninth home victory in a row.

Pavel Buchnevich had two goals, and Robert Thomas and Ivan Barbashev each had a goal and an assist for the Blues, who had won two in a row.

Mike Smith had 31 saves for Edmonton. Jordan Binnington allowed four goals on 13 shots for St. Louis before being replaced by Ville Husso, who stopped 25 of 27 shots.

■ Ducks 5, Coyotes 0: At Glendale, Ariz., Isac Lundestrom had two goals and an assist, and Anthony Stolarz stopped 22 shots in his sixth shutout and third this season as Anaheim halted its 11-game slide and dealt Arizona its seventh loss in eight games.

■ Islanders 3, Rangers 0: At New York, Semyon Varlamov stopped 27 shots in his 36th shutout and second this season, Mathew Barzal had a goal and an assist, and the visiting Isles won their third straight. The Rangers had won four in a row.

■ Sabres 4, Predators 3: At Buffalo, N.Y., Tage Thompson had two goals and former Golden Knight

Peyton Krebs a goal and an assist for Buffalo, which didn’t trail while extending its point streak to eight straight games.

■ Lightning 5, Blackhawks 2: At Tampa, Fla., Ross Colton had two goals and an assist, and Andrei Vasilevski­y had 21 saves while improving to 13-0-0 against Chicago in the regular season.

■ Senators 5, Red Wings 2: At Detroit, Mathieu Joseph scored three third-period goals for his first NHL hat trick to back 6-foot-7-inch Mads Sogaard, who stopped 27 shots in his NHL debut.
