Grizzlies stay hot by cooling off Suns

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Findlay Prep product Dillon Brooks scored 30 points to help Memphis beat Phoenix 122-114 on Friday in a matchup of the NBA’S top two teams, extending the Grizzlies’ win streak to seven straight games.

Brooks converted a three-point play with 32 seconds left for an eight-point lead, and short-handed Memphis (55-23) held on to snap the Suns’ nine-game win streak.

Devin Booker led Phoenix (62-15) with 41 points. Mikal Bridges added 18 points and Cameron Payne 11 for the Suns, who trailed 84-83 entering the fourth quarter.

Ziaire Williams scored 19 points and De’anthony Melton 17 for the Grizzlies, with Melton hitting six straight free throws in the final 20 seconds.

■ Pelicans 114, Lakers 111: At Los Angeles, C.J. Mccollum scored 32 points and Brandon Ingram 29 for New Orleans, which closed on an 11-5 run to win its third straight and solidify its hold on ninth place in the West. Lebron

James had 38 points and Anthony Davis 23 points and 12 rebounds for Los Angeles, which lost its fifth in a row.

■ Timberwolv­es 136, Nuggets 130: At Denver, Karlanthon­y Towns scored 32 points for Minnesota, which beat Denver for the third time in four meetings this season. Nikola Jokic had 38 points, 19 rebounds and eight assists for the Nuggets.

■ Wizards 135, Mavericks 103: At Washington, Kentavious Caldwell-pope scored 35 points and Kristaps Porzingis 24 in his first game against his former team for Washington. Dallas fell a half-game behind Golden State for third place in the West.

■ Kings 122, Rockets 117: At Houston, Harrison Barnes scored 25 points for Sacramento, which beat Houston for the second time in three days. Jaylen Green had a careerhigh 33 points for the Rockets afer scoring 32 on Wednesday against the Kings.

■ Celtics 128, Pacers 123: At Boston, Jaylen Brown scored 32 points and Jayson Tatum 31 for Boston, which dealt Indiana its sixth straight loss. Tyrese Haliburton scored 30 points for the Pacers before fouling out with the Celtics leading 103-101.

■ Raptors 102, Magic 89: At Orlando, Fla., Fred Vanvleet and Scottie Barnes each had 19 points for Toronto, which scored 32 points off 21 turnovers by Orlando in its fifth straight win. The Magic lost their fifth in a row.

■ Clippers 153, Bucks 119: At Milwaukee, Robert Covington hit 11 of 18 3-point tries and totaled 43 points for Los Angeles, which shot 60.9 percent while hitting 23 of 43 3-point tries. Both teams rested their top players.

■ Spurs 130, Trail Blazers 111: At San Antonio, Devin Vassell had 22 points and Keldon Johnson 21 to lead eight double-figure scorers for San Antonio, which kept its hold on 10th place in the West.

■ Pistons 110, Thunder 101: At Oklahoma City, Killian Hayes and Frank Jackson each scored 26 points for Detroit, which built a 22-point third-quarter lead.
