An Alaska Airlines flight subscription plan aimed largely at West Coast remote workers has exceeded expectations since it was introduced in February, a company executive said.

The Flight Pass program offers customers up to two-dozen roundtrip flights a year to destinations in California, Arizona and Nevada, including Las Vegas, Reno, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

The cheapest version of Flight Pass costs $49 a month and allows for six roundtrip flights a year. For the value package, bookings must be made at least two weeks and as early as 90 days in advance of travel.

A more comprehensive package — Flight Pass Pro — starts at $199 but allows same-day booking and more flights annually. The top end of that package costs $749 per month and allows for two roundtrip flights per month.

Taxes on tickets are not included in the monthly fee.

“Flight Pass was designed with specific guest needs and feedback in mind, which included wanting a program that helps people make the most of their newfound freedom to live and work wherever they choose,” said Taylor Acton, a business development specialist and principal product manager for the airline.

“A remote worker can have peace of mind knowing their budget is set. We believe Flight Pass can make Alaska Airlines the airline of choice for the remote work — and sometimes leisure — traveler in California, Arizona and Nevada,” Acton said.

Alaska Airlines has multiple daily flights from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and the Bay Area and runs about 100 daily flights that connect 13 California cities, Reno, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

“It’s a great option, too, for residents in those locations to travel to Las Vegas frequently, easily and on a budget,” Acton said. “We hope that many will continue to take advantage of the program and enjoy the fun that Vegas has to offer.”

If the promotion continues to be successful, it could be expanded to other parts of the country, the company said.

“Guest feedback has been positive,” Acton said. “Flight Pass is still in its infancy, but we have every reason to be optimistic about its future.”
