JOAN MARGARET HILL
Joan Margaret Hill, age 90, passed on to a better world February 18, 2022. A longtime resident of Las Vegas, Joan died from age related causes at her daughter's home near St. George, UT. Joan was born January 11, 1932 in Waterloo, IA, daughter of Margarite Cecilia
Harn and James Henry Hundley. She came to Las Vegas with her late husband, William (Bill), relocating for his job at the newly opened Montgomery Ward store on Boulder Highway in 1965. Mother of four sons and one daughter, Joan continued as nurturer and wife, maintaining a home on Jones Blvd. near Alta Drive.
As Joan's children grew older, she and her husband began a new chapter as 7/11 franchise owners in 1972. Joan also was a founding member of the 7/11 Franchise Owners Association later serving as President for one term. Retiring in 2009, Joan's life became one of grandmother and volunteer, working for such causes as Every 15 Minutes, Manna Cupboard and Family Promise. A strong believer in public service, Joan was a census worker for the U.S. Census and worked for the Democratic Party trying to get out the vote. Throughout Joan's life she kept a positive outlook and her faith as a devout Roman Catholic carried her through both good and bad times. Her ever present smile and laugh will be sorely missed.
She is survived by sons, William (Pat), Christopher (Cindy), Andrew (Becky), John (Gina) and daughter Joan (Ray).
She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two greatgreat-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Frosted Faces of Ramona, CA or Best Friends Animal Society.
A mass of christian burial will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on 2022-05-09 at Christ the King Catholic Community, 4925 South Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV, USA.
A graveside service will be held from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM on 2022-05-09 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetary, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV, USA.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM on 2022-05-09 at The Tap, 704 Nevada Way, Boulder City, NV, USA.
