Rockies’ Bryant returns to injured list with back issue

Rockies left fielder Kris Bryant (lower back strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 30-year-old Bonanza product recently was sidelined three weeks with the same issue and has appeared in just two games since April 25. A four-time All-star who signed a seven-year, $182 million deal with the Rockies as a free agent on March 18, Bryant has hit .270 with no home runs and four RBIS in his first 73 plate appearances with Colorado.

■ Orioles: Right-hander Dean Kremer (left oblique strain) has allowed one hit and one walk while striking out 11 over five shutout innings through two rehabilitation starts, one with Double-a Bowie and one with Triple-a Norfolk. The 26-year-old

UNLV product, sidelined all season, is expected to be activated in early June.

■ Rays: Outfielder Manuel Margot

(right hamstring strain) was activated from the IL after being sidelined 10 days. The 27-year-old, who was the reigning American League player of the week at the time of his injury, entered Wednesday hitting .348 with three home runs, 21 RBIS and five steals through 27 games.

■ Pirates: Catcher Henry Davis was diagnosed with a nondisplaced fracture in his left wrist and is sidelined indefinitely. The 22-year-old No. 1 pick of the 2021 draft has hit .333 with a .454 on-base percentage, six home runs, 24 RBIS and five steals through 24 games at two minor league levels in 2022.

■ Twins: Right-hander Joe Ryan was placed on the COVID-19 IL. The 25-year-old is 5-2 with a 2.28 ERA, 42 strikeouts, 14 walks and a .186 opponent batting average in eight starts spanning 43 1/3 innings. He leads all major league rookies in wins and innings and is second in strikeouts.

■ Yankees: Giancarlo Stanton (right calf strain) was placed on the 10-day IL, and fellow outfielder Joey Gallo — a Bishop Gorman product — was activated from the COVID-19 IL. Stanton, a four-time All-star, has hit .285 with 11 home runs and a teamhigh 35 RBIS over 40 games in 2022.
